Ok, Many of you think that Hawaii is expensive. Well, yes it is but there are many ways to save money or a better way of putting it is "being smart". For example, the photo to the left is a view from our hotel room on Kuhio Ave. That's just 2 very short blocks to the beach which was about a 2 minute walk for us. We only paid $60 per night for our room! No we did not use our agent discounts, we got this rate because it's the off season of September. Book a room or get more information on hotels in Hawaii.
This place was close as everything is in Waikiki. This sign is not a mirage but very true. Not only was it cheap but it was a buffet. This restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner with the latter being only $10.95. I must be honest and say that it was not gourmet but it was filling, fast and the right price. There are many other great places to eat that we visited and you can get the skinny on all of them by clicking here.
Convenience is the way in Waikiki and nothing says that more than having an ABC store on nearly ever corner. These places make 7-11 look like your kitchen pantry. They sell all of those last minute items you may have forgotten to pack or lost at the airport; toothpaste, hair gel, perfume etc.They even sell souvenirs, groceries, alcohol, beach items and of course, sunscreen. Beware of the Tourist Information booths. They will snare you with their magic lariat and the next thing you know you are the newest timeshare owner.

Unless you are aware of what they are actually there for. We got a brand new Nissan Sentra for 4 days and the total cost including all taxes was only $75. We sat through a 2 hour presentation and got free coffee or juice, pastries and actually learned a little. We are proud to say we escaped unscathed and our pocket book intact. If you are looking to save money on some of those more expensive items like a rental car or the ever so popular Luau then this is a great way to do it.
